What is a Charter School?

Charter schools are free, public schools led by a nonprofit board of trustees, rather than state and local boards of education.

This means we can cater our policies and educational models to the students we serve. Charter schools are open to all students without discrimination.

Like other public schools, charter schools are publicly funded and cannot charge tuition. However, we only receive a percent of public education funds based on enrollment and therefore rely on donations to cover additional costs.

The difference at Primary Hall Preparatory Charter School

  • Accessible

We provide a culturally responsive education. We give families a high-quality, accessible K-5 option in the community.

  • Tailored Approach

We believe that students are unique, and that there is no one approach to teaching all students.

  • Individualized Goals

All students work towards individualized goals to ensure they are individually challenged.

  • Small Group Instruction

We reduce student to teacher ratio to tailor curriculum that improves individual student achievement. Students will learn in a class size no larger than 9.

  • Character Development

We understand that true education develops one’s mind and character. At the root of our work relies the responsibility for young people to be responsible, hard working and contributing members of our community.
